Responsible for the expansion of the University’s online learning portfolio, including the Distance Education Initiative – fully online masters programmes – and Massive Open Online Courses – free, online courses, available openly to the world. The University of Edinburgh is one of the largest providers of both online Masters courses and MOOCs in the UK. To date the University provides over 60 postgraduate online degree programmes and 16 MOOCs, with subjects spanning the whole University discipline range. More than 815,000 people have enrolled on Edinburgh MOOCs with 55,000+ achieving course completion certificates.Currently responsible for a small team who support the content creation and build of new online learning projects, including high quality media development, and holds ultimate responsibility for the quality assurance oversight of these high-profile online projects. The Special Projects team form an incubator functionality for new initiatives before main-streaming into University core business, e.g. across support services such as Information Services.
