Manage Microsoft Windows Domain Servers (2000/2003/2008/2008 R2), Microsoft SQL Servers (2000/2005), Microsoft Windows workstations (2000/XP), Windows Mobile PDAs, and web-based collaborative web 2.0 tools including: ticketing (Request Tracker), inventory management (RT Asset Tracker), forums (PunBB), content management (Lucid CMS), blogging (Nucleus CMS), and wiki (MediaWiki) tools. Administer Symantec BackupExec 11D.Responsible for system installation, configuration, administration, security, and networking. Provide remote support as needed.Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, Distributed File System, remote software installation using MSI packages, web-based services, and VPN servers. Use Symantec Ghost to deploy new images. Provide system administration for 120 Windows domain workstations, 8 Windows servers, and 196 loaner laptops. Responsible for installation, configuration, and diagnosis of system hardware and peripheral devices, user permissions and file access. Provide support for desktop applications (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook), network/server authentication, user accounts, network printing, and remote file storage. Monitor backup, firewall, disk quota, and system logs to find problems before they impacted users. Develop dynamic web pages using HTML, CSS, SQL and PHP, in both a Windows and Linux environment, for use with ticket metrics and reporting. Implement digital signage. Work with users to plan migration away from Access databases to web based systems. Assist in the development of departmental computing policies and procedures. Use project management to track deployment of new equipment and services. Document computing technical procedures in departmental wiki. Train users to use departmental tools, such as the ticket system. Use Moodle to implement further training. Help to establish help desk best practices and training.
