I love my job! As the Associate Director in the Full-Time MBA Program, I've been able to develop and refine my skills in student service contributing toward Goizueta's mission of providing an intimate learning environment. My primary responsibilities include serving as the lead for Academic Affairs for our student population. I am the primary liaison with faculty and the registrar's office, and I manage the registration process, scholar programming, data collection for external surveys, Birkman Method integration, and graduation/commencement activities. I provide academic advising and assist in the organization and delivery of orientation and our student experience course for all new students in their first semester. As a certified Birkman consultant, I introduce the Birkman Method to our student population during orientation, and provide opportunities for one-on-one coaching to guide students in personal/professional development. The Birkman Method also has relevant application for teamwork and how individuals can work best together and bring out the best in their teammates. As such I have conducted team workshops for our Goizueta Business Associate (GBA) student leaders and our student teams in the Goizueta Advanced Leadership Academy (GALA). Additionally I served as a leadership facilitator for the GALA capstone experience in which the students participate in a week long leadership challenge while sailing in the British Virgin Islands. I also manage the events and activities leading up to graduation for the Full-Time MBA program. These responsibilities include participation in a school-wide committee, overseeing the budget, supervising the student planning committee, awards ceremony script-writing, and organizing multiple events leading up to and including graduation day. I work with an amazing group of future business leaders and a team of professionals from whom I learn something new everyday.
  • Emory University Goizueta Business School
    Associate Director, Evening Mba Program
Emory University Goizueta Business School Dec 2007 - May 2013
    Atlanta, Georgia, United States
I was thrilled to seize this opportunity at Georgia's highest ranked business school. In addition to academic advising and program management, I spent my first few years in this role as the primary lead for career services in the Evening MBA Program. These services included workshops, individual coaching, resume/cover letter development, interview preparation, strategy planning and everything in between. In the latter part of my time in this role, I reallocated my primary focus to academic advising and student engagement while managing several of our critical projects including new student orientation as well as graduation/commencement activities specific to the Evening MBA Program.
  • Georgia Institute Of Technology - Jones Mba Career Center
    Corporate Relations Manager
Georgia Institute Of Technology - Jones Mba Career Center Apr 2007 - Oct 2007
    Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Georgia Tech brought me back to Atlanta and my Southern roots. The work here was very similar to what I was doing at DePaul. I managed corporate relationships with companies recruiting Georgia Tech MBAs while providing career development guidance to the students. In this role, I discovered that my best talents lie in student coaching and advising, and this area continues to be a primary focus in my career.
  • Depaul University - Mba Career Management Center
    Assistant Director/Recruiting Specialist
Depaul University - Mba Career Management Center Apr 2005 - Apr 2007
    Chicago, Illinois, United States
The opportunity at DePaul was exciting for several reasons. I was thrilled to return to a university setting and excited to take on the new challenge of working in career services with MBA students. I continued to expand my skills in advising and coaching specifically in the area of career development. As the recruiting specialist, I worked with companies and organizations in Chicago on recruiting DePaul MBAs. Since this was a new position at the school, it was a great opportunity for me to increase DePaul's corporate relations outreach while broadening my professional expertise.
  • Teksystems
    It Recruiter
    Teksystems May 2004 - Apr 2005
    Chicago, Illinois, United States
♫ One of these things is not like the others! ♫My position at TEKsystems represented a big shift both professionally and personally. I moved to Chicago and tried out the corporate world. I learned so much about business and information technology in this role which prepared me for my work with MBA students. There is no doubt in my mind that I could not be where I am now without this experience.
  • Georgia State University
    Undergraduate Admissions Counselor/Recruiter
Georgia State University May 2000 - May 2004
    Atlanta, Georgia, United States
In my first position after graduate school, I recruited and provided counsel to prospective students regarding the admissions process at Georgia State. This was my first exposure to one-on-one coaching and advising. My work required significant travel around Georgia and the Southeast while representing the school at various recruiting events. Through this, I developed a talent for presenting and speaking in front of audiences of all sizes. As the Transfer Team Lead, I also managed and supervised the customer support staff who processed transfer student applications through the complete cycle.
  • Auburn University
    Assistant Program Advisor
    Auburn University Sep 1998 - May 2000
    Auburn, Alabama, United States
This position was a graduate assistantship in student activities that introduced me to the career possibilities in higher education. In this role, I managed and advised student leaders in Auburn's largest student organization - the University Program Council (UPC). Through this position, I gained valuable experience in program management, people management, event planning, and budgeting. I also advised the Student Government Association's Cabinet on an interim basis which gave me even more exposure to the opportunities within college and university administration.
