Amy is a certified experiential therapist and the Director of Group Counseling at Daystar. In addition to counseling adolescents and their parents, she handles the organization of groups, offering oversight, vision and training to group leaders. Amy is passionate about mentoring and supervision and is journeying toward becoming an AAMFT Approved She mentors and supervises masters level counseling interns throughout the summer months. Since joining Daystar in 2019, Amy continues to work with clients experiencing anxiety, emotional disregulation, and divorce adjustment to name a few. She is drawn to strong-willed children and loves the challenge of teaching them how to be both soft and strong. She is passionate about serving clients who have experienced emotional trauma and grief and is pursuing certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Brainspotting (BSP) and is particularly interested in therapeutic modalities that engage both the mind and body. Amy has a creative streak and an office full of art supplies. She has a gift for connecting with children and adults alike. She and her pet therapist, Jeff (the goldendoodle) take a playful and warm approach to engaging kids. Amy is a pre-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University.Prior to becoming a therapist, I earned fifteen+ years of marketing and editorial experience working as a magazine writer, advertising copywriter, and marketing strategist—mostly, telling better stories. I continue to dabble in home design and construction.
