Profile bio

About Amy Bradshaw

I graduated with two degrees—one in accounting, another in manufacturing engineering. While it may seem that I pursued finance over science, my career has actually been a great combination of the two.Over the past twenty years, I’ve learned that being a good financial person absolutely means being a good engineer. No matter what I’m dealing with—operations, revenue goals, or analytics—I look at what’s going on and ask, “is there a better way to do this?” That question is what motivates me to solve problems, automate processes, and think about data and information as an engineer thinks about objects and systems. When I know that there’s a better way to do things, I don’t wait around—but I also know that getting things done means creating conditions where the whole team feels supported. As a problem solver, I’ve come to see how interpersonal dynamics, leadership, and trust are vital resources when it comes to resolving challenges. If I create optimal conditions for a team, we are likely to create the most optimal results. In short, my work is all about making business better—that means putting new ideas into action, finding pragmatic solutions, and illustrating a vision that the whole team can get behind. This is what motivates me whenever I go to work—and at the end of the day—it’s been the most rewarding part of my career.

Listed skills include Business Development, Process Improvement, Program Management, Leadership, and 27 others.

Pivvot is building a software platform to evolve the way companies with geographically-distributed assets collaborate to build, maintain and optimize their investments over time. Our platform is rich with contextual data about the location to provide advanced analytical capability at the touch of a button. As Pivvot's CFO I work with our team to set the overall company strategy and to ensure the company's financial and human resources are best utilized to achieve our goals. Core to my role is ensuring the accuracy of our financial statements and the underlying accounting transactions. I am responsible for representing the financial and operational aspects of our business to our board and investors through the implementation and tracking of KPIs. As the company continues to grow I own the implementation of new policies and process to support the business.

For nearly two years at mySidewalk I was an integral component of the management team during a period of transition for the company as it moved from a legacy product to a newly-developed geo-spatial city intelligence platform. My initial responsibilities included all accounting and finance functions including financial planning, general accounting and payroll. During my first year I completed the company's first financial audit. Over time my role grew to include management of the marketing and then the sales functions for the company. As a collaborative team, we implemented new go-to-market strategies and increased momentum in the market.

Vice President Of Finance

Overland Park, Ks, Us

Over my four year tenure with Netsmart, I acted as the “eye in the sky” for the company. By building the financial planning and analysis team into something that impacted all areas of the company, my team and I helped each department understand their business better, quantify their impact on the company, and see in real time how they’re performing. As one colleague put it, the monthly report that he got from us was the best day of his month. With the analytics and data that we presented, he got a high-level view of his performance, in-depth feedback, and a unique perspective on how his department was influencing company momentum. I led a team of eight—together, we were responsible for modeling the corporate financial plan, quarterly forecasting, and aligning with business units to optimize financial results. My engineering background was really useful in this capacity, as this kind of work was a matter of putting the building blocks together, reporting, and creating an interactive relationship with all departments that helped the company to achieve its financial goals. One of my proudest accomplishments in this role was that we built everything from scratch. We deliberately crafted the ways that we used the data, effectively presented it, and showed every department leader how their influence was shaping the company. We were not just reporting, but deeply influencing how every department saw itself as a functioning part of a larger whole.Additionally, I was honored to be part of the Netsmart Masters group three out of my four years, which recognizes the top 3% performers in the company.

As a consultant, you have to prove your worth and deliver something that the client is satisfied with—but my approach to consulting for MarketSphere differed in that I decided to find out what the problem really was for a client, rather than offering a solution for what I thought the problem was. This approached worked really well—so well, in fact, that I later went to work for KCP&L, a client that I initially had when I was their consultant with MarketSphere. My clients told me that I was a “quality over quantity person”—they knew that I was going to focus on building a relationship with them, listen to their concerns, and then shape solutions into something that was going to be truly useful for them. It was really satisfying to develop that level of trust with my clients, and it taught me that people—not problems—should come first.

While I was at Cerner, I started in finance and moved into a business manager position because I wanted to make the news, not report it.I learned a lot from that move, because it entailed taking on a dysfunctional book of business and turning it into something completely re-energized. After three and a half years, I took a department that was largely manual, unproductive, and stagnant into a team that needed half the resources and dramatically increased the revenue and margin. By automating processes, focusing on efficiency, and building a motivated team, it totally changed the shape of that business unit. Here are just a few highlights:• Developed and implemented a long-term plan to reverse an under-performing division that resulted in increasing annual revenue by 27% in 3 years and growing margin 32% while reducing expenses by over 40%• Exceeded revenue and margin targets for 13 consecutive quarters• Negotiated the change-over to a new supplier that saved the company $1.5 million in recurring revenues• Managed a project that reduced costs by 15%This experience also showed me the power of loyalty and dedicated teams. I realized that when I focused on listening to others and building consensus, everyone was invested in working together. I decided to commit to fairness and finding solutions that worked for everyone, and I was amazed at the results. Not only did it create a really positive work environment, but it also created a space where new ideas and change were a lot easier to implement.
