My most satisfying vocational moments happen when I am facilitating a group of people to bring a vision of social change to reality. Every engagement has been unique because every group is driven by their unique passion for equity and social justice and has a unique set of skills and resources from which to innovate for their unique community. I am grateful for those who do not let the complexity of the social challenges that confront us today limit what they believe is possible. Working alongside these individuals for over twenty years, I have acquired a diverse toolkit with which to guide your team as you implement the vision for social change that compels you!The methods I use are people-centered and include: Asset Based Community Development (ABCD); Appreciative Inquiry; Theory U; Design Thinking; Participatory Research and Action; Social Networking; Liberating Structures; and Developmental Evaluation. All of these approaches value the wisdom and experience of the people closest to the opportunity for change and puts them at the center. I have facilitated change efforts with neighborhood-based groups; public libraries; nonprofit start-ups; seminaries; churches; and systems working across multiple stakeholders. No matter what your sector or sphere of influence, your social change effort will benefit from a people-centered approach. I am eager to learn about your project. Please connect with me via LinkedIn or email me at amycmoritz@gmail.com.

Founding CEO of Center for Transforming Communities (CTC), a technical assistance intermediary specializing in place-based initiatives and community engagement. CTC’s core purpose is to equip congregations and neighborhoods to work together to rebuild and renew community life in the Memphis Metro area. The flagship program that CTC offers is called Communities of Shalom. The program is part of a national initiative to transform our world, one neighborhood at a time. During my tenure, results included six new neighborhood coalitions comprised of diverse participants representing residents, businesses, churches, nonprofits, schools, and other institutions. Through CTC’s leadership training, capacity building, technical assistance and network weaving, these neighborhoods have launched over 150 community-created and community-led initiatives. In addition to these place-based results, CTC was instrumental in a mindset shift across Memphis to one that values community engagement and asset/strength based approaches to community revitalization.
