    As a clinical hospice liaison, i utilize both my nursing skills and my communication skills. I feel that Hospice is not utilized to the extent that it should. It is imperative to build and maintain relationships within the community through various means. I am in the region daily looking for new relationships and learning from each community what they need, what they hope to have when they age and ensure them that they have a partner in me to work on these needs. Community events, visits with Independent, Skilled and Assisted Living commumities to break the mold and stigma that aged homes are only for the dying. I talk daily with physicians, hospital administration and case management to determine if a patients needs can be met by our service. The motto is “Right patient, Right time”. It’s my purpose to educate communities on the benefits, and be available when needed. It is a priority to make those I talk with comfortable so they understand that I am there only for their benefit. It is important to always be prepared for what the referral source may need, and most important the patients and their families. Being available for referral sources and patients is the main way to build trust. And that’s what is required to grow business.
