In addition to maintaining and extending both the back-end and front-end of this React Typescript, Redux, Redux Observables (RxJS) project with a .Net back-end, brought multiple npm packages up-to-date, including ones requiring significant refactoring of the code (tslint to eslint, react-router-dom, okta-auth-js/okta-react, ag-grid). Got the Okta login working on the Cypress tests that had been failing in the build pipeline for several years. Set up react-testing-library. Worked with the rest of the team to implement a code review process that allows more efficient sharing of domain and technical knowledge.

Updated legacy ReactJs/Typescript codebase from a variety of methods to call endpoints and store state to standardize on Redux and RTK Query and increase Jest test coverage, resulting in drastically increased quality and stability (fewer bugs). The product allowed large organizations to create slides automatically from their data and had a fabricjs based Canvas implementation. Was responsible for fixing bugs and implementing new features in that are of the code as well. Recruited and trained two front-end developers to help build new search feature, leveraging Storybook to allow everyone to work in parallel and ensure the pieces worked together when finished. When the team pivoted to a new product, set up React, Vite, and Typescript in a Django hybrid project and built version 1 of the product in Django and React.

React/Typescript pages to replace legacy ASP classic system. In addition to fulfilling that role, identified that the team was having difficulty learning the specific way Redux was being used to create CRUD pages and created Resharper templates to allow new contractors to do that with minimal knowledge of the architecture. Set up React Testing Library to enable me to fix an obscure bug resulting from a transient data condition. Modeled Test Driven Development in my own code and trained the team on the basics of using Jest to test their code, including recording a series of videos showing how to create various types of tests and make them pass. Rescued several features that were in danger of not meeting deadline and, as a result, assumed technical leadership of agile “pod.” On the back end, created several new CRUD endpoints in C# and debugged C++ code,

Set the architectural direction for a two-tier UI data visualization solution that incorporated visualizations for Kubernetes monitoring in an existing React project. Built and deployed the project using TeamCity and OpenShift. As member of the APM Business Transactions Team, responsible for creating data visualizations in AngularJS. Dramatically increased Jasmine test coverage for the team, review code and mentor to help improve code quality for the team. Troubleshot and managed Mercurial and Jenkins merges and builds. Leveraged Angular UI Bootstrap to build and improve UI elements. Coordinated with teams in India and Czechoslovakia to flesh out requirements and improve code quality. Produced rich media viewer for profile information that combined AMFPHP with a third-party Flash component inside Flex. - NetKinetix. Developed Adobe AIR widget template in Flex Builder that used a custom Datagrid that allows each renderer to be styled with a callback function.- HC Pro. Automated conversion of existing HTML-based courses into Authorware with a Word Add-in and an Authorware command. - Foley's. Trained department store employees to use Authorware to produce training that could interact with a back end database. I used a combination of training I put together and Joe Ganci's "Scripting 1" course.- Planned and hosted AMGAC (Aviation, Military, and Government Authorware Conference).- AM General. Developed a system that enabled the client to create interactive wiring diagrams more efficiently, and with less programming expertise than their competitors. It featured an upgraded look and feel and included visual tools for drawing animated pneumatic diagrams. It had "smart" animations that were produced by using Fireworks and a custom Fireworks extension (mxp). I trained their staff on Authorware and the development system using hands-on activities.

I create media rich pre-employment assessments for well-known brands such as large retailers and major banks. I have been largely responsible for two rewrites of our Virtual Job Tryout platform that started out in ActionScript 2. The first rewrite was completely from scratch in Actionscript 3. As a result of this rewrite, we were able to reduce development time for the same functionality and were able to provide dramatically increased functionality. The standardized approach to common tasks, like creating new question types or synchronizing demonstrations with audio, made it easy to hand off the Flash code to another team, allowing me to concentrate on the second rewrite, in AngularJS.The AngularJS and ASP.Net code was first created by an outside contractor, so it did not take into account the stringent requirements of our highly customized Assessments. I modified my standardized approach to work in the HTML5 environment with a larger team. During these rewrites, I devised and documented processes for everything from how to ensure that released Flash versions were tagged properly in Subversion to how to keep the git subrees used across our newer html5-based projects synchronized. I believe strongly in preparing to get hit by a bus, so I also conduct regular training sessions for things like how to create and maintain Jasmine tests. I am quite proud of the fact that my team regularly contributes their own processes and documentation as well.

During my contract at Johnson Outdoors, I worked on the GUI for a display that is similar to a high-end car navigation system. Because it is for large boats, it also includes radar and sonar functionality. As part of a three-person team, I:- Rebuilt a subsystem to use Robotlegs to handle communication and updates. This reduced CPU usage by up to 30% compared to the previous system. It also reduced compile time by several minutes, increasing developer productivity for the whole team.- Innovated a system to reuse live components in preview mode, enhancing user experience and saving large amounts of designer labor, both on the front end and throughout the product life cycle.- Educated the rest of the team on the importance of loose coupling and good architecture for maintainability- Led in the effort to implement Test Driven Development for future code, establishing short term and long term goals for test coverage and ensuring that my own code exemplifies those goals.

Using Flex 4, I prototyped a system that would allow Vitrue users to add custom interactive content to Facebook by leveraging Flash in their user feeds. I used Test Driven Development and Robotlegs to build a flexible, extensible architecture.

Created approximately three hours of highly interactive computer-based training to support live teleconference training on a new software release in a short time frame. The template-based training used WinCtrls and Microsoft Agent in Authorware. Was responsible for creating all graphic elements, as well as working directly with Subject Matter Experts and technical writers to produce all storyboards. The training was later converted to be launched directly from the Help for just-in-time training on specific topics. The just-in-time training would connect to an ASP page on a server to determine if updates were available and could download and install updates to itself as needed.Developed a limited Learning Management System in Dreamwever that used ASP and JavaScript to provide html-based Security training on a tight deadline.Created a web-based course that used Text-To-Speech and other technologies to create a media-rich learner experience with low bandwidth requirements under heavy deadline pressure to support the release of a new web-based application.Created an interactive game to act as a refresher on Security training. This game included a login where the user could select an avatar, a graphical game scenario where the user could gain points by paying attention to security, plus additional games that they could choose to play, such as a dynamic word search built in Flash and a text based game scenario engine based on QuestionMark.

Developed and implemented processes to increase the efficiency of the entire multimedia training production team. Developed a modular architecture in Authorware that reduced programming time dramatically below expectations for the new courses and reduced error rate and rework time. This resulted in a profit margin on the project that was roughly six times the expected profit. An important feature of this system was that logic could be in place and tested even before graphic assets were available. Once the graphics were ready, interactive areas could be quickly repositioned to match.Supported developers working at the Agoura Hills, CA, facility in producing interactive courses for the military. Much of the work was repetitive copy and paste work, so I developed tools to automate the process, not only saving my time, but theirs as well.With the time gained, I was able to support additional work, including developing original storyboards with Subject Matter Experts and conducting research and development activities, including making the courses data driven from an Access database and testing Flash techniques for demonstrating common concepts.

Worked with a six-person team of sales associates and designers to meet the design needs of newspaper advertisers in print and on the World Wide Web using Quark Xpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Netscape Fusion.

Produced media elements with various graphic, video, and sound packages for a ten-hour interactive course on physics. Though the job description did not include programming, I performed the bulk of the programming in Authorware for an additional Computer Based Training program which was designed to emulate a DOS based forecasting program.
