For the last 20+ years I've managed operations and production in marketing agencies—AKA: marketing air traffic control.— Managing day-to-day agency activities— Estimating, planning and managing projects from conception to completion, in collaboration with creative directors, account mangers or project owners— Constantly assessing schedule and cost from design to production, drawing on my experience in a wide range of projects and processes from print to websites, drip-campaigns to trade show booths, business cards to out-of-home— Knowing project load without looking, but also knowing it can't just be in my head (there are tools for that)— Always busy but I never mind getting interrupted (huge part of the job)— High expectations for myself and others on my team, with a touch of compassion and a hint of empathy— Level-headed under stress (thrive on it)— I'm not scared of technology (actually, quite fond of it), but I also know its not the only way to get things done— Always striving for agency, client and project success— What's an air traffic controller if they aren't a stickler for the rules? Mainly brand guidelines, proofreading and processes. (Yep, that's right, no Oxford comma unless the brand calls for it.)— Anticipating next steps, preparing for the best and the worst— Confidently push forward and able to pivot when the situation calls for it— Building relationships with the team, the clients and vendors— Resolving issues that arise and still getting the job done— Prioritizing, decision-making and delegating daily— Will roll-up my sleeves and dive in when necessary— And many other standard buzz words for things that need to get done and managed in a busy agency
