After a successful first two years as the Controller of Day Companies, I was promoted to the Chief Financial Officer. This position is an opportunity to continue to build on the foundation that was laid over the prior two years. I have had the privilege to continue to work on our relationships with vendors to improve on our current processes and procedures. We transitioned our server to web-based, built out several automated letters in our software to improve efficiencies, and prepare workpapers to provide better detailed information to our CPA firm partners to complete the annual tax returns - just to name a few. I've have the pleasure of continuing to find and work with vendors to help support our business needs.

In late 2017, I started my next chapter by working with Day Companies. The every day responsibilities of the Controller were to manage the finances, the personnel, and create space for learning and training for our team. When I first started this position, I revamped our payables system by implementing a softwrae to take us to paperless. Many of the other procedures were updated to paperless as well. I continued to build on my prior experience in creating and developing procedures to become more efficiently as a company.

In 2013 I started my next chapter by working with Lifestyle Communities. My responsibilities cover our bar/restaurant, The Goat, and our workout facilities, The Om. Since beginning this position, I have revamped all if he procedures surrounding this group of work; upgraded accounting software, set up work papers, moved to a paperless work environment, added an accounts payable software and processes, and began electronic remittance of our alcohol purchases through Fintech. My experience throughout my career has afforded me the knowledge to improve procedures and implement policies surrounding those procedures. I am very proud of the movement I have achieved at LC!

In 2007, I began working at Yankovich & Associates (later merging into a new firm named Clarus Partners) as a Senior Associate in the accounting services group (ASG) department. The ASG department focuses on the small business client’s needs by providing consulting services, process development in their company, and prepare items such as the financial statements and tax returns – just to name a few. My career at Clarus Partners has expanded my knowledge through experience to many of our small business clients. Preparing financial statements and tax returns (including tax returns for larger clients operating in multi-state and multi-city locations) have been a large part of my responsibilities. Also within my responsibilities is planning as it relates to income taxes for both businesses and business owners, and financial budgeting and forecasting. Through my time at Clarus, I have become a main contact point as it relates to QuickBooks accounting software and provide consulting and training services related to the software for both staff and clients. During my tenure at Clarus, I have proven my skills, knowledge, and leadership to become a manager in our ASG department. While managing in the ASG department, I supervise staff on the closing of books and preparation of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. I am also active in the training of new employees, assist in the planning of tax season, and have an integral leadership role in the process planning and implementation of best practices.

After the three years I spent in the real estate profession, I was itching to get back into the accounting field. I was approached with an amazing offer to begin working at a financial planning firm as the in-house tax accountant. This was a great opportunity which provided me the ability to delve into the financial planning world and gain knowledge on financial plans and portfolios of various clients. While at Chornyak & Associates, I began managing projects and was able to put into place the proper procedures for an organized tax season.

During the exciting time of the real estate boom I began looking for a home to purchase. While searching for my new home, I became excited about the real estate market and wanted to experience everything that it had to offer. I took a temporary leave from the accounting field to work in real estate selling new homes, and gained more knowledge and skills than I could have ever imagined.

I started out my accounting career performing in a traditional public accounting capacity by performing audits, preparing tax returns, and preparing financial statements. I initially worked on audits for HUD properties and not-for-profit organizations, then later began preparing tax returns for various individuals, corporations, partnerships, not-for-profit organizations, and employee benefit programs.
