Amy began her career testing space station Extravehicular Activity (EVA) design and assembly in NASA's Weightless Environment Training Facility, Reduced Gravity Aircraft, Precision Air Bearing Floor and human thermal vacuum chambers. She worked return to flight after Challenger Space Shuttle EVA Development Tests targeted at building EVA capability prior to ISS Assembly flights. A charter member of the Space Station EVA Analysis and Integration Team, she was ISS Mission Evaluation Room EVA and Crew Systems lead for the first space station assembly flights. In 2000, Amy went to work for the EVA Project Office in Russian EVA Integration, travelling to Russia in support of Russian spacesuit EVA development /training in the Hydrolab for the first few Space Station crews. She was the ISS-3 EVA Increment Manager, working with Russian partners towards installation of their airlock from which the first space station based Russian EVAs took place.As Chief EVA Engineer of the EVA Branch of the Astronaut Office from 2012-2016, duties included development/planning of ISS spacewalks, EVA training, support to ISS EVAs within Mission Control, development/assessment of future hardware, and advanced spacesuit development. Amy moved to the Vehicle Integration and Test Office in June 2016, working various next generation vehicles as well as pressure suits for these vehicles.Amy spent a year as Rotational Technical Assistant to the Spacesuit and Crew Survival Systems Branch. Amy then returned to her home office in the Vehicle Integration and Test Office to focus on upcoming US crewed vehicles and future programs inclusive of Gateway and Human Lunar Landing Systems. Amy also served as one of the facility managers for the Astronaut Quarantine Facility at JSC, and worked to implement the Heath Stabilization Program within the facility for pre and post flight missionsAmy currently serves as Deputy Project Manager of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS), joining the talented members of the AMS Project Office at JSC. Amy completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M and Sam Houston State University, and holds an MS from the University of North Dakota. She has written / co-authored several papers on the subjects of early space station EVA design, Exploration EVA concepts and plasma charging environment on spacecraft.
