Working with students who have been identified as English language learners to build the skills that they need to succeed. This role includes a variety of academic assessments and monitoring to ensure that the areas of growth that have been identified as challenges get the support needed.Depending on the students level they participate in Tier 2 Intervention Support, Conversation Clubs, or general check ins. When doing ELPAC assessments I get to know the kids to give them the best change at succeeding by providing various fidgets, lighting changes, prepping before testing, or 1:1 or small groups.On top of supporting all things ELD (in a school with about 60% kids that are English Language Learners I am proficient in Powerschool and am fairly confident in CALPADS.

Working a multi-tiered educational approach, my work supports the students who need extra reading or language support. I work with their teachers and other support staff and administration to make sure that children are receiving their best chance at reaching their reading goals. * Learning to read is much more than the phonetic accuracy, my job encompasses making sure that my kids are comprehending what they're reading. Some of this is due to English being their second language and sometimes it's due to other factors within their life. * Teaching skills like taking notes and asking questions when there are words or phrases that are uncommon.* Building confidence and joy in reading by maintaining a small extra library for my kids to pull from so that they have an excitement to read instead of feeling like they just "have" to. * Maintaining analytical data so that I can see both emotional and academic growth or obstacles that will allow me to help me teach the child better.
