About Amy Gerrard
I have a varied life and career, and I enjoy nurturing multiple income streams, which allows me to follow my passions. I am a Lecturer in the School of the Arts at University of Liverpool leading the Employability and Placement programmes, i'm a PhD Candidate in Educational Research at Lancaster University, and I own a successful cafe in Liverpool called Plesseys, as well as a substantial property portfolio. I'm particularly proud to be a fellow of AdvanceHE, Enterprise Educators UK and the RSA. I work as the academic lead for Employability and Placements within the School of the Arts, University of Liverpool. In this role, I embed employability in creative ways with students, staff and employers. I'm the module convenor of the school wide Employability and Placement module and I am the Programme Lead for the Year In Industry pathways in School of the Arts. I have been recognised as a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AdvanceHE) and the Royal Society for the Arts for my work in Universities, particularly my role in enabling students to progress into the Arts through placements, internships, jobs and start-ups. I am a proud Fellow of EEUK, and an advocate for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education. I head up the Employability working group which involves supporting my academic colleagues with employability initiatives. I’m involved in university wide strategic planning, and I manage the Employability and Enterprise budget for the school. Within my role I am also able to support students with their freelancing roles, particularly in journalism, social media, content creation, web development. I also work with digital and artisan creators. I co-created an award winning enterprise scheme for the University of Liverpool that is being rolled out into the curriculum.

Academic Lead For Employability And Placements
I am responsible for sustaining and expanding the School of the Arts' increasingly strong track record of employability initiatives. This includes leading the School wide work placement programmes including the Year in Industry, managing a guest lecture series for students' career exploration, and I have been introducing enterprise projects to the School.I lead the Employability Working Group, which is a specialist group within the School that progresses the strategic direction of employability. I work closely with the Associate Dean for Education, as well as Academics, the Student Experience Team, and the Careers Team at the University.

I worked at the Centre for Entrepreneurship at LJMU, where I had the opportunity to keep up to date with the Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education Industry. As well as my duties listed below, I taught regular sessions from Undergraduate to PhD level, contributed to the research and publication portfolio of the Centre for Entrepreneurship, and had the pleasure of interacting with students and student entrepreneurs from all walks of life. I provide guidance/coaching in or to maintain high standards of behaviour and a safe and happy college community.I communicated effectively with students to maintain an appropriate balance of ‘tough and tender’ approaches to student management.Develop and maintain office administration systems and procedures to contribute to the smooth running of the Information Advice and Guidance service. This would involve taking notes at meetings/training events, log all interventions, action plans, evaluate provision of the service, produce letters, reports, fact sheets, posters and leaflets.I assist all students with a prompt response to enquiries and requests for support in the use of learning resources, technology including PC and Mac, and e learning resources.
