At GardensThatMatter.com, we teach families how to create beautiful, bountiful gardens by sharing step-by-step lessons and stories from the field and backyard. On our farm in western North Carolina, we grow food for ourselves, our community and the resident wildlife using a mix of permaculture, biointensive growing and traditional farming. We’re learning a lot as we grow. We share our successes (and messes!) on our blog and in our classes.

Organized, marketed and led education programs and events at the ABQ BioPark's Botanic Garden. Recruited, trained and supervised staff and volunteers. Monitored and evaluated programs, staff and volunteers. Taught about biology, conservation and interpretation. Created new events, classes, and volunteer positions. Helped coordinate strategic planning process for the BioPark Education Department.Also served as Aquarium Science Education Coordinator from September 2005-March 2006.

School year - worked in the BioVan outreach program to Albuquerque-area schools. Taught about the Rio Grande and its ecosystems. Promoted programs, recruited/trained/supervised volunteers, planned logistics, and researched/wrote program materials.Summer - worked as a Camp BioPark teacher. Planned and taught summer conservation camps for ages 5-13.

Worked at Rockbrook each summer. Cared for campers in cabin and instructional settings. Taught boating and other activities as needed. Led out-of-camp trips and supervised outdoor adventure staff (2001-2004).
