Projects:Novel Optical Imaging of Fluorescent Proteins • Developed, executed, and improved modulation experiments and optical setups for identification of fluorescent protein compatible with the optical modulation technique.• Successfully imaged fluorescent proteins in the presence of high background which demonstrated sensitivity gains of > 20-fold improvement in cellular imaging.• Maintained microscope and Class III and Class IV laser systems and trained junior scientists on optical systems. Limited use with microinjection systems for live mammalian cells.• Planned and constructed project-based grant proposals and articles.Cytosolic Nanoparticle Delivery• Identified confocal sectioning limitations in select cell lines leading to new procedures for accurate determination of cytosolic delivery.• Optimized fluorescence-based protocols that improved quantification of available binding sites on quantum dots.• Worked in biosafety level 2 laboratory.
