Womenswear Design Assistant at John Lewis where I worked across own brand multi-product ranges including wovens, denim, outerwear, knitwear and jersey. During my time as Design Assistant I worked on the Somerset by Alice Temperley, Collection Weekend, AND/OR and John Lewis main range. My role involved working collaboratively with the buying team to develop and push the ranges further each season. I was responsible for trend research and feeding this back to my Senior Designer, helping to develop colour palettes, creating new print artworks, assisting in designing new product and briefing these to suppliers, liaising with oversees suppliers, comp shops, regularly attending fit sessions and presenting to key stakeholders including head of buying.

During my placement year at university I worked for the supplier Cohen & Wilks as a Placement Assistant Designer. I liaised closely with designers and managers to produce commercial designs for a wide variety of high street brands. As specialists in outerwear and casualwear for the retail market Cohen & Wilks' clients include M&S, Debenhams, BHS, George, Mothercare and John Lewis, among others. I had contact with overseas suppliers and buyers and developed strong communication skills, on the telephone, by email and face-to-face.My key responsibilities during my placement included:Creating and updating CADS in both styles and colour-ways;Producing design packs for overseas factories;Trend research using trend forecasting websites such as WGSN and MudPie; Creating artwork and repeat prints for designs using pantones.
