My promotion to Head of Content & Editorial for C40's knowledge management work recognises further evolution of my role and responsibilities. Principally, I lead the editorial direction and oversight of the C40 Knowledge Hub, our platform on the design and delivery of urban climate action for city and climate professionals. This means that I identify needs and opportunities for new proprietary Knowledge Hub articles, write some articles and support colleagues on others, and review and edit all articles to ensure that everything we publish is in-keeping with our editorial voice and meets our standards for quality, consistency and the needs of our city audience. I also oversee our wider library of C40 and third party content, and shape presentation and navigation on the Knowledge Hub.I also work with C40 teams to support the development of quality outputs that meet the needs of target audiences, contribute C40 knowledge of city examples and good practice to external processes, and developed and now manage an internal knowledge-sharing platform for C40 staff.

Cities around the world are leading in the fight against climate change, but we need more - we need higher ambition and we need far more cities to join them. C40 launched the C40 Knowledge Hub in 2019 to support all cities, regardless of C40 membership, that want to act on climate. The C40 Knowledge Hub provides cities with easy access to the best available knowledge about tried-and-tested climate actions to prioritise and how to implement them, as well as trends and emerging approaches. We draw evidence and insights from within the C40 membership and far beyond to develop a one-stop-shop for cities on climate. I joined the C40 Knowledge Management team a year ahead of the launch of the Knowledge Hub to shape and deliver the platform's library content. I determined the KH's core article formats, guidelines on style, tone etc for our city government audience, the topics and issues to cover in KH articles, and wrote them in collaboration with city-facing teams across C40. I also curated the library of C40 and third party content hosted on the KH. I have led content/editorial on the KH ever since.Visit www.c40knowledgehub.org.

The Urban Design Journal is a leading industry-facing publication on urban design and planning in the UK. I proposed the special issue on climate, planned the set of articles, sourced contributors, edited their inputs, and wrote the introductory piece, working with Ben Smith at Arup. While my work has explored many aspects of climate change and development my principal interest is urban adaptation, particularly action that delivers co-benefits for mitigation and urban wellbeing. My research is policy- and solution-oriented, and I have a published track record of writing for both technical and non-expert audiences.

CDKN works with governments, from national to city level, to provide the research and technical assistance they need to meet their ‘climate compatible’ development goals. My roles and responsibilities, with the research programme and climate risk management theme, evolved year-on-year. This included: sourcing and writing content on climate risk management to support CDKN’s thought leadership, including blogs, case studies, research on strategic issues, infographics, and synthesis of findings and lessons learnt; donor-side management of a portfolio of projects totalling over £3 million; scoping, developing and commissioning new research, such as a research call on Climate Resilient Cities in Latin America; managing internal projects; and representing CDKN at events. I had substantive roles in a wide range of CDKN projects, including initiatives to promote the uptake of complex IPCC messages in developing countries, to support scale-up of efforts to reduce heat risk in Indian cities, and to influence key international policy moments. I began with CDKN as a Research Assistant before becoming a Project Officer, and later a Research Officer under the programme, and I continued to work with CDKN in an advisory capacity until March 2017.
