Volunteered at Hainerberg Elementary School and through the U.S. Army in Wiesbaden, Germany, Fort Campbell, KY, and Camp Humphreys, South Korea. As a school volunteer, assisted with field trips, assisted with the Green Boot Club, read with and tutored students in the elementary grades. As a volunteer with the U.S. Army, served as Family Readiness Group leader for A. Co. 7-101st Aviation Battalion, Ft. Campbell, KY. My responsibilities were to keep open communication between the unit and family members while soldiers were home and deployed. I have also served as Treasurer for G. Co. 52nd Aviation, Wiesbaden, Germany. Facilitated fundraisers and was responsible for the unit funds for the unit.

Cumberland Heights Elementary School

At Cumberland Heights Elementary School, I taught first and third grades. Taught first grade for two years, serving as grade level chair for one of those years. Served on several committees, as grade level representative. In 2009-10, taught third grade for one year while serving as Science Fair chairperson. Due to the number of months my husband was away from home during a school year, resigned to focus on our young daughters.

Osan American Elementary School

Taught first grade for one year at OAES. At OAES, attended a class through San Diego State University to learn the Step-Up to Writing method. Facilitated students in learning fine arts at the summer program. Resigned due to our move back to the United States at the beginning of the following school year.

Lucas Elementary, Fort Campbell, Ky

I was a kindergarten teacher at Lucas Elementary. While at Lucas Elementary, I worked with another kindergarten teacher and two educational assistants to teach the students to read, write, and mathematics. Students also worked on social skills as many had not attended preschool. On top of the average struggles of a kindergartener, our students were faced with 9/11 and the aftermath. The students on Ft. Campbell had parents who deployed very quickly. This required us to work as a team to ensure our students were receiving a top quality education in a safe, understanding environment. I resigned this position due to our move to South Korea.

Bellshire Elementary, Donelson Middle School

For MNPS, I taught 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades. I taught at Bellshire Elementary for three years and Donelson Middle School for one year. At Bellshire Elementary, I helped students transition to the new No Kid Left Behind standards. I was able to attend NCTM and IRA conferences. Another workshop I was able to attend was the Core Knowledge conference. At Donelson Middle School, I assisted in re-opening a school that was closed for 14 years. We worked as a team to bring together students from around Nashville to build a community of learners. I served as Student Council Chariperson. I resigned this position due to my marriage to a soldier stationed sixty miles away.
