The Cartier Women's Initiative is an annual international entrepreneurship program that aims to drive change by empowering women impact entrepreneurs. Founded in 2006, the program is open to women-run and women-owned businesses from any country and sector that aim to have a strong and sustainable social and/or environmental impact.

Published first novel, "The Seven Perfumes of Sacrifice," a literary suspense story about the search for the ancient, lost origins of "honor killing" and the divine feminine in the Arab world. Published March 8, 2012, International Women's Day. Gave a TEDx Sacramento talk about my research for the novel and personal journey to overcome gender-based violence. Have spoken at many conferences on gender justice issues and violence against women including NYU, USC, Dokuz Eylül University and Gediz University (Izmir, Turkey).Have worked as a freelance writer/editor or staff writer for many newspapers, magazines, websites, nonprofits and corporations. My articles, letters and/or photographs have been published in The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times Magazine, Harper's, The Dallas Morning News, The Denver Post, Vegetarian Times, Natural Solutions, Conscious Dancer, etc. I wrote a nationally syndicated travel column with a million readers for a syndicate of The Chicago Tribune. Had an essay published in the Amazon best-selling anthology Mothering Heights' Manual for Motherhood in 2008.

World Learning is a nonprofit organization empowering people and strengthening institutions through education, sustainable development, and exchange programs in more than 60 countries. From Algeria to Zimbabwe, we focus on providing individuals and communities with tools, training, and experiences that transform lives, including youth education programs like The Experiment in International Living for high schoolers and School for International Training, a college study abroad program. Amy went to Switzerland with WL while in high school, and later led a group of teens on a traveling eco-homestay in Australia.

Elected to and served two terms (2015-2017, 2017-2019) with the San Francisco chapter of the national charity that supports the work of UN Women, the United Nations entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women. The US National Committee for UN Women is an NGO with consultative status to the UN's Economic and Social Council, which raises funds and awareness and advocates for UN Women programs that empower women around the world. Amy led a turnaround of the SF Bay chapter, recruited and engaged board members on an ambitious agenda, increased fundraising 4600% and tripled membership in the first year in office. Won national award of distinction from USNC-UN Women for outstanding achievement 2015-2016. Women's Voices Now is a non-profit organization that seeks to empower all women living in Muslim-majority societies by promoting their free expression, thereby giving voice to the struggles for civil, economic, political, and gender rights. WVN provides free, online platforms for film, art, writing, and social-media technology and presents a bi-annual online short-film festival in which it awards $30,000 to filmmakers to support their ongoing women’s rights-focused projects. www.womensvoicesnow.org

Collective Impact Partners is a new coalition of organizations that empower women and girls globally, including The Global Fund for Women, World Pulse, Rise Up, the Public Health Institute and Global Women's Leadership Network. This powerful alliance will amplify and accelerate all of our efforts to realize women's equality globally. Won a $2.1 million grant from Gates Foundation for three years to run pilot to economically empower women in India.

Invited to join the U.S. Speaker Program of the Bureau of International Information Programs, a group of American experts chosen to engage with foreign audiences worldwide. I was an expert on "honor killing" and honor-motivated gender-based violence. My mission in this role was to advance women's human rights worldwide through education, collecting and sharing success stories of transformation, training and supporting local leaders and sharing my novel on the origins of honor violence, The Seven Perfumes of Sacrifice, and documentary film "The Price of Honor".

Headquartered in the Center for Women and Gender Studies at George Mason University, WELL is a non-profit organization whose mission is to train women in developing countries in leadership skills using online technology and distance education tools.

Joined the USNC-UN Women delegation to the 60th-62nd sessions of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, the annual conference of the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality. I presented at the "Women in Film" session and the "Disrupting Discrimination: San Francisco Tech Tools to Advance Gender Equity" at CSW63 in 2018.

In an ever-changing regional and international geopolitical environment, educated women in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia have limited influence and leadership opportunities in the civic and political spheres. Project WELL aims to provide e-learning programs that guide, support, and mobilize these women’s personal and professional growth through leadership development. Co-founded and funded a charitable organization to award scholarships to extraordinary American teenagers to live with host families and study abroad through American Field Service (AFS). Since 2002, recipients have gone only to Muslim countries with the mission of seeking greater cross-cultural understanding and peace. Have also funded via HEAL Africa the construction of a safe house for women traveling for medical care after sexual assault in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo.

As their publicist, helped grow the two largest organizations for business and life coaching (Coach Inc. and the International Coach Federation) from the infancy of the coaching profession in the late ‘90s from start-up obscurity to national brands, adding “life coaching” to the American vernacular and growing its popularity in 51 countries.Generated publicity on CNN and MSNBC, in Business Week, U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, Money Magazine, The New York Times, Nation’s Business, USA Weekend, Investor’s Business Daily, and hundreds of other print, broadcast, radio and web outlets.
