Amy M. Burns (http://www.amymburns.com) holds a Bachelor of Music in Education and Performance from Ithaca College and a Master of Science in Music Education from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). She also holds certifications in Technology for Music Education (TI:ME) as well as Orff, Kodály, First Steps, Apple, Google, and is an International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Certified Educator. She is also an Ambassador for Seesaw and Book Creator. For the past 26 years, Ms. Burns has taught elementary general music, directed the school's philharmonic, and coordinated The Far Hills Conservatory at Far Hills Country Day School, in Far Hills, New Jersey. She also teaches music technology courses at the university level during the summers. She has presented workshops on integrating music technology into the elementary music classroom for numerous district, state, national, and international conferences over the past decade. She has contributed lesson plans and has written articles for numerous publications. She has written four books on integrating technology into the elementary music classroom and has been a contributing author on a variety of curricula for elementary music. Her most recent publication, Using Technology with Elementary Music Approaches (2020), published by Oxford University Press (OUP) is available from OUP and Amazon. Ms. Burns is the recipient of the TI:ME Teacher of the Year Award, NJ Master Music Teacher Award, NJ Governor's Award in Arts in Education, and NJ Non-public School Teacher of the Year. During 2008-2012, she served as President-Elect/President/Past-President of TI:ME, and served on the TI:ME Board of Directors for over ten years. In 2013, she was selected to serve on the NJMEA Board of Directors as the PK-Grade 8 General Music Chair. She has given keynote addresses for conferences held in Texas, Indiana, Saint Maarten, and Australia. Recently, she expanded her role in music education by working as the Community Coordinator for Midnight Music Community (MMC) based in Melbourne Australia, and as the Elementary Music Consultant for MusicFirst.
