• HR Lead for two Units and two Charities. Ranging from charity of 10 people to Unit of 1100. Units based in The Gambia (West Africa) and Uganda (East Africa) and Charities in London and Africa.
• Providing strategic advice and governance to Senior Management Teams, including Directors and Chief Execs.
• Successfully lead a team to deliver the HR aspects of complex transfers from two overseas Units to a UK University. Transferred 1600 staff (local and UK contract).
• Successfully lead the HR aspects of a charity TUPE transferring out to become an independent entity. Project managed to tight deadline of only 4 months.
• Organisation lead for Pay and Reward workstream during a merger of 9 organisations.

• Partnered two International MRC Units which have a mixture of local and international contracts.
• Developed Unit HR Strategy for a 2-3 year period. Strategically aligned to corporate and Unit goals.
• HR contact for the Business Continuity Team during a political crisis in The Gambia. Input into BCT planning.
• Managed senior recruitment campaigns including Chief Operating Officer and Theme Leader positions.
• Sensitive employee relations for senior staff including redundancy, restructure and long term sickness.
• Change management. Overseeing the transition from one Head of HR (30+years in the role) to a new local contract. Capacity building and collaborations to ensure timely induction and knowledge transfer.

• Secondment from the MRC to support operations post TUPE transfer. 2 large organisations transferred to create a new charity of c1400 employees.
• Partnered 60 Programme Leaders (320 of 1400 staff) to develop an understanding of their current and future needs to proactively seek effective solutions.
• Identified employee relations issues and worked with managers to find appropriate solutions including investigations and disciplinaries, capability, flexible working, probation, and OH referrals.
• Policy work. Created and reviewed policies and processes, with a view to streamlining and updating existing systems. Due to the TUPE transfer, this meant working under 4 sets of policies.
• Deputised for the Senior HR Business Partner.
• Trained the new HR Advisor and HR Business Partner.

Mill Hill, London

• One of the largest Units of the Medical Research Council.
• Partnered three key departments (280 of 600 staff). Building productive relations to increase capability.
• TUPE transfer. Part of an HR team tasked with a whole site transfer. Tasks included: consultation, due diligence, data migration and managing the change process.
• Project work including: Leading a team towards a national accreditation (Athena SWAN) promoting Women in Science;Organization wide policy review of HR policies on behalf of Corporate HR;Managed a programme of 30.
• Case work. Used to having 20 live cases of absence at any one time. No appeals or tribunals.
• Staff supervision. Mentoring and coaching of two HR Administrators. Role modelled behaviours.

• Sickness absence management. Supported the HR BPs with formal management of sickness cases.
• Reporting/MI. Used Oracle to create a suite of monthly reports to inform the HR Team and Executive.
• Recruitment. Managed the process from vacancy creation through to offers and inductions. Conversant with immigration processes and how to acquire visas in line with immigration requirements.
• Job Evaluation. Trained to evaluate new and modified roles according to Civil Service standards.
• Training Co-ordinator. Created annual training needs analysis based on appraisal data.
• Contact point. First line for all staff queries, ranging from pay queries to policy advice for 600 employees.

• June 2010 – August 2011 HR Assistant- Part time (whilst studying for a Masters) June 2009- June 2010 HR Assistant- Full time and HR Manager in Training Development Programme (One of 4 people on the Region).Aug 2007.
• Payroll for over 300 colleagues. Introduced system of checks and balances and improved error rates from 20 HR errors per week to 0.
• Oversaw introduction of Oracle database to store.
• Charity and PR Ambassador. External community relations and PR generation for the Store. Managed a budget.
• Risk assessments and legal and compliance issues including Maternity and Young Persons.
• Accident reduction strategy introduced to minimize accident claim costs and improve procedures, leading to no successful claims made since its introduction. Cost saving for the Store.
