My second-grade teacher solidified my love of learning, and so I knew from the time I was eight years old that teaching was my destiny. (Yes, I'm the kid who played school after school, and cried on the last day). In college, I developed a love of sociology. My affinity seemed organic because the discipline encouraged questions.My continued passion for teaching is driven by my belief that a good education should be experiential. I explore ways in which students can forge emotional connections with materials. I utilize visualization, integrative feedback, peer reviews, and games in the classroom so that students are encouraged to ask and answer the "so what" questions. Classrooms are co-creation spaces and the sociological imagination becomes a conduit for community, voice development, and investment.I relish sharing and exploring pedagogical discussions centered around the idea that classrooms are our best community models. Education is an adventure. And as I learned in second grade, a true education never ends.
