For 8 years I worked in the Children's Acquisitions department. Starting as an Assistant Acquisitions Editor, I was continually promoted throughout the years to Senior Acquisitions Editor. I managed accounts for various licensors including Disney, Hasbro, Sanrio (Hello Kitty), Joester Loria Group (Eric Carle), Discovery Channel, Warner Bros, & American Greetings.My daily responsibilities included negotiating approvals of books with licensing partners, creating budgets and hiring outside contributors for projects, and keeping track of schedules to ensure deadlines were met.I consistently collaborated with teams of editors, art directors, production editors, and sound designers on each project assignment. I managed up to fifty projects at a time under tight deadlines and rush requests. Being in the Acquisitions department exposed me to all areas of the publishing process - creative, business, production, and more.
