I've been a coder since I was 12, and a professional in software for a long time. I'm a web developer with experience in management. I'm full-stack (front-end leaning), and JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Ruby on Rails, and SQL are my happy places.To describe myself, I'll share my values – not only professionally, but also as a human being navigating life.BE PASSIONATE. I love what I do, and I couldn't do it if I didn't. For me, many things about working in software spark joy: being a part of the fast pace of technology's evolution, learning new things, working with and lifting up teammates, delighting customers and users, finding that flow state and solving complex problems.BE KIND. To me, kindness in the workplace means that everyone should feel included, regardless of their level of experience, background, race, gender, or any other trait. So I do my best to empower others' voices, get to know people personally beyond just their work, and generally make someone else's job easier or their day better.BE CREATIVE. Making software is a fundamentally creative act – we are literally creating something new every day. I think it's always good to think critically, and not just do things because they've always been done that way, or because someone else said it's a "best practice." Often, the best solutions are outside of the box.BE CURIOUS. Go beyond just getting the code to work. Is there a better way to make it work? Think through all the edge cases – will it still work? What else does my language or framework provide that could apply? One of the great things about software is that there are always new things to learn.LISTEN. Listening can be transformative and powerful: it's how we learn from each other, it's essential to conflict resolution, it's how we can collectively come up with the best solutions, and it makes us each feel heard and understood.Other things about me:* I'm a certified Executive and Personal Coach. I pursued coach training because I am passionate about helping people achieve goals and reach more of their potential.* I'm a creative through and through. Some of my hobbies include: writing songs, playing musical instruments, singing, writing books, sewing, knitting, drawing, and paper crafts.* I'm proudly Taiwanese American, and I speak decent-but-not-quite-fluent Mandarin Chinese.
