This is an exciting time full of change, growth, and myriad possibilities for me. The Universe has so many lessons to teach and I try to be a good student. My ultimate goal is to achieve a balanced and wholehearted life, both at home and at work. The message we often receive about work and home life is that they should remain separate, but compartmentalizing our lives like this can take quite a toll. I highly value authenticity and admire those who allow themselves to bring their whole true self into the workplace. It requires a high level of courage and vulnerability, as I learned through a hero of mine, Brené Brown. I learn more about myself every day and continuously make adjustments in accordance with my values- as a result, I find that I am becoming a healthier and happier person all the time! It is truly a long, difficult process and not for the faint of heart.I took some time away from regular, full-time employment to recover from severe burnout and to explore the world of self-employment through contracting opportunities. It was a good learning opportunity, and I continue to do some of that on the side, but after a year and a half I felt that I was ready to return to social services full time. As such, I secured a position that closely aligns with my interests and values- that of the Hospice Bereavement Coordinator. I feel very welcomed and valued in my new role with Serenity Hospice (now owned by Addus HomeCare), where they have been most accommodating and accepting of me. It is quite a welcome change from my last employment experience, which still negatively impacts me to this day. I continue to work on recovering from past experiences while appreciating and thriving in a new workplace.
