I help charities and not-for-profit organisations develop powerful narratives that put their reader right at the heart of the story. I ensure that your communications are accurate, error-free and aligned with your clients’ brand voice and editorial style.As well as copywriting, copyediting and proofreading, I also work as a sub-editor. I can edit and typeset your publications using Adobe InDesign, ensuring content reads well, fits the available space and aligns with the your editorial style. I also write headlines, standfirsts, pull quotes and captions.I’ve recently worked with the RSPCA, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, Neighbourhood Watch, the Raspberry Pi Foundation, Cats Protection, the Back Up Trust and the Royal College of Pathologists.

In this role I was the Deputy Editor for the charity’s official supporter magazine which involved researching, conducting interviews and writing features, as well as copyediting and proofreading all content. I also commissioned and managed freelance writers. I took on the Editor’s role for one issue; overseeing and managing the magazine’s entire creation process from start to finish. I also provided cover in the Editor’s absence.I was the Editor, writer and project manager of the charity’s Annual Review. I collated case studies, conducted interviews, worked with EMT stakeholders and undertook ghost writing for the charity’s Chairman and Chief Executive.I was the Editor of the charity’s national blog, managing and writing content to reflect the charity’s strategic plans and campaigns. In addition, I commissioned freelance and guest contributions.My role also involved contributing to internal communications and to the charity’s print and digital marketing and promotional campaigns with other teams including the Fundraising department and Learning & Development team. I championed the charity’s house style, ensuring that all communications were accurate, consistent and professional.I acted as first point of call for the charity’s staff, volunteers and internal departments on all digital and publication copywriting issues and requirements, providing guidance where necessary. In addition, I supported the Social Media Manager in monitoring the charity’s national presence on social media, in particular with key annual campaigns such as National Black Cat Day and the National Cat Awards.

My promotion to this role meant working with global brands to contribute towards their digital strategies through optimised content for natural search. I ensured that content produced for SEO purposes aligned with my clients’ overall objectives; whether that be to grow search visibility, drive traffic or increase revenue.I undertook detailed competitor content audits and then delivered sophisticated digital content strategies for my clients.I ensured my clients’ existing content was well optimised for search by advising on techniques used by search engines in ranking.I produced both onsite and offsite content including product pages, blog posts and articles, infographics (both static and interactive) and various additional types of textual content such as informational guest posts, interviews and surveys.To further extend my content production output, I commissioned freelancers and managed the production of content such as videos, illustrations and infographics.Additionally I worked alongside my colleagues to contribute to link building campaigns and build relationships with bloggers as well produce content for promotional campaigns such as competitions to generate relevant and authoritative links to my clients’ sites.Some of my clients included Debenhams, Compare The Market, Coca-Cola, UGG Australia, LG Electronics, EDF Energy, Cosmopolitan magazine, Accor hotels and ShopStyle/POPSUGAR.

My responsibilities in this role involved recommending and implementing technical search engine optimisation (SEO) working for a variety of huge clients such as Coca-Cola and LG Electronics.After a short time in this position I was promoted to the role of Natural Search Content Producer.

I was hired by Buzzbitch's founder and editor Cate Sevilla (who later became one of the founding members of BuzzFeed UK and then was Editor-in-Chief of The Pool and HuffPost UK). I contributed features covering lifestyle, home, style, tech, food and culture until Buzzbitch's closure in January 2013.

This position involved producing multi-platform digital marketing strategies for small businesses. I delivered digital content strategy, social media management, targeted email campaign creation and management, basic SEO, Wordpress management, web copywriting and blogging for my clients.I also delivered bespoke training workshops and online training videos for our clients on the above topics to help small businesses grow using digital marketing.

As the Editorial Assistant (and then Publications & Digital Assistant), I produced copy for Cats Protection's internal and external publications, national advertising campaigns, national blog and email marketing campaigns. I managed the charity's social media presence, which during my time there was placed 15th out of the UK’s charities for social networking in an NFP Synergy report.I also filmed and edited videos to promote the charity and further its aims.
