Amy Sheets is the founder and creative director for Marrs Makers, a fashion and leather goods brand. She has honed her natural aptitude for design, fit engineering, and garment lifecycle management with progressive experiences at high-volume fashion brands like J. Crew and Anne Taylor. Amy also directed a distributive production network of local sewists for Brooks Brothers.Because of her expert technical design and deep relationships in the fashion and garment industries, New York City chose to source emergency mask design innovation and production from Marrs Makers during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the team pivoted, employing local sewists who were job-eliminated during the lockdown to begin production. Over time, Amy identified the need for more inclusive, well-fitted children’s masks for smart virus protection. Now she applies anthropometric data and statistical concepts to improve product design and sizing. Together, the Marrs Makers team makes safer, more equitable, age and fit-appropriate masks for NYC’s schoolchildren, increasing peace of mind for school workers and families. For more information, please scroll down click on the "Masks Fit for Kids" presentation in the Marrs Makers section of this profile.
