I read ancient history and apply it to modern problems. In grade school I had three favorites: science, history, and art. As a geologist, I found an opportunity to integrate these into one profession. I read rocks and subsurface data: mud/petrophysical/well logs, seismic, outcrops, core, cuttings, completion, production, and fluids. I integrate these data to develop historical views of the Earth and resource (petroleum) accumulations. Through analysis of the whole petroleum system, I develop prospects and sell, drill, and produce them. The ability to be creative in a technical role and tell a story has been essential to my success in a variety of roles in the oil and gas industry and as a geoscientist. Data assimilation, versatility, and flexibility have been key in my diverse experience in exploration, development, production, and operations. In my career as a geologist, I’ve developed prospects in multiple basins and many different play concepts. I’ve drilled horizontal wells, vertical wells, s-shaped, J-shaped, injectors, producers, conventional and unconventional wells. I’ve developed chronostratigraphy charts for entire basins and 300+ well development programs. I’m addicted to making maps, petrophysical calculations, creating workflows, and watching a well “come in”. I love to push new opportunities, ideas and efficiencies. My activities in my spare time reflect my right brain/left brain tendencies. I like to bake (great mix of science and art), am a Roadside Geology junkie (I’ll turn any trip into a field trip), and love raising my three boys (add circus management to my list of skills). I also enjoy volunteering in schools and outreach programs with geologic activities. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories and perspectives.
