Throughout my PGCE I will be studying at university and doing several placements. My university experience started off at Eaton Manor for Girls in Clapham where I did my shadowing for two weeks in a reception class. I then started off at university where we had lessons on all the subjects we would be teaching as primary school teachers. Starting my first placement on the 31st October I was in this school for 7 weeks as a trainee teacher in the Year 6 class which was called Mozart. I got to co-teach, take individual lessons and participate in many school activities. This was a wonderful start to my new career in education and I had a fantastic time in this school. I finished on the 16th December passing my first placement and leaving with wonderful memories. After the new year I started in my new school, Tyndale Community School on the 16th January. This time I was in a Year 4 class, with more responsibility on this placement I am doing more teaching and more planning.

BACCHUS is the hospitality society for students who are currently still studying and who are part of the oxford school of hospitality management. In this role I help with all the events that are run to try and raise money for the end of year ball. Part of the job role being on the Ball committee we organize the ball for the students, from finding a venue to decorations, entertainment, raffles and prizes.

Throughout the course of the week I assisted the festivals founding director and the special advisor in organising the seating plans and name cards for the dinners, as well as assisting on the drinks receptions. I used the Perfect Table Plan program to do the seating plans and these would be printed A3 for the guests on the evening. The name cards were done on word and edited each night with a relevant theme for the dinner. I also liaised with the event managers at the Oxford colleges, to inform them of dietaries and any extra information they would need for the evening. Before each dinner I would visit the college to see the halls and explain how we wanted the lay-up and seating. On the evening of the dinner I would assist in greeting guests, showing them where to go as well as dealing with any unforeseen issues that arose.

Working along side trained professionals at the animal sanctuary, I assisted in food prep for the various animals, then feeding the animals. I also cleaned the animal enclosures, checking they were still safe for living and doing any repairs if it was necessary - I also built a few enclosures for parrots and smaller mammals. I got to work very closely with the animals which was incredible, running a dog clinic every Tuesday for the locals we dipped them for fleas, feed them and did any necessary veterinary treatments.

Throughout my placement year I assistant on many event:-Dinners-Conferences-Cocktail parties-Exhibitions- Christmas Parties and many moreWorking alongside a great team, we saw events run from start to finish. I would work in the office on mood boards and emails and ordering of CCG, then help run tastings for the clients, and then the operational side - set up - live event - de-rig. I worked on the floor, bar and assistant in the kitchen/Pot Wash. I also spent a month as the café and bar manager of the small café and bar that is located within the building.

Within my first year of university, we work in the Brooke's Restaurant. First semester I was in the kitchen, and rotated weekly between starters, mains, dessert, veg and head chef. Second semester I worked front of house and was rotated between waitress, hostess and bar.

Working as a PA, I did filing, emailing and general office errands.
