Amy Walsh Kern is the founder of Amy Kern & Associates, a firm that conducts neutral fact-finding investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, misconduct, workplace conflict and other situations implicating workplace fairness. Amy Kern & Associates also performs cultural assessments to identify and address workplace issues. Amy was formerly a founding partner of KZ Workplace, where she also performed neutral workplace investigations, Title IX investigations, cultural assessment and human resource consulting. Formerly a partner at Leonard, Street & Deinard’s (now Stinson) Employment Law Group, Amy has extensive experience litigating claims of harassment and discrimination, as well as other employment-related claims. Amy counseled businesses around the country on employment matters, helping them to identify and resolve workplace issues. Amy also conducted numerous neutral fact-finding investigations into allegations of misconduct and provided training for managers and employees, educating them on complying with employment laws, best practices and identifying workplace problems. Prior to Leonard Street, Amy was an associate at Mayer Brown in Chicago.Amy formerly served as the Executive Director of WATCH, a court-monitoring and judicial policy non-profit started in 1992 that works to make the justice system more responsive to crimes of violence against women and children through court monitoring, education and research. As WATCH's ED, Amy issued a significant report on how sex trafficking cases are prosecuted.Amy graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (formerly The John Marshall Law School). She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia). She is a former trustee at the Walker Art Center, former Board Chair of Highpoint Center for Printmaking, and the former Leadership Committee and is Co-Chair of the Communications Committee for the 2018 Superbowl Anti-Trafficking Committee for the 2018 Superbowl Anti-Sex Trafficking Initiative. She was also the past recipient of Leonard, Street and Deinard’s Pro Bono Award for Service to the Indigent.
