I believe the biggest asset that I have to offer to any employer is a genuine bicultural -- Chinese and American -- background. As someone who was raised and educated completely in the US since the age of 10, I am as much Chinese as I am American for all practical purposes – culturally and linguistically. In the globalize world today, my background gives me a lot of upper hand in the business context. On the one hand, I believe in team works, loyalty, and harmonious personal relationship -- which are all qualities over which the Chinese culture places enormous values. At the same time, I am a pragmatic, efficient, communicative person who is good at identifying and solving problems. In this regard, I am an American. In other words, I am where the East meets the West.My language skills -- in both English and Chinese -- are valuable assets for me. I can say with confident that I am completely fluent in both languages, in terms of writing, reading, and speaking. Some people may doubt my Chinese language skills, but their skepticisms are simply misplaced. In the past 5 years, I have been working full time in Taiwan – a completely Mandarin speaking environment. I ask at least three things of myself in each and every one of the jobs that I have had – a sense of satisfaction from knowing that I am good at what I am doing, the ability to experience additional professional growth from new challenges, and a feeling of dedication and commitment to the firm or the company for which I work. These are things that give me the momentum to strive for higher career goals and the strength to meet up to the each and every new challenge.
