Diagonale is an artist-run centre dedicated to contemporary art that favours proposals from artists and curators that incorporate the medium of fibres as a material or concept. After eight years in New York (Peter Freeman, Inc., Parkers Box) and six years at the Pinacothèque de Paris (Paris – Singapore), Hélianthe Bourdeaux-Maurin opens H Gallery in Paris in September 2016. She bases her artistic line on the discovery and promotion of talents who have never or rarely been shown in France: whether they are European artists or, more particularly, artists who live and work in North America and Latin America.These artists use mediums as varied as installations, paintings, drawings, sculptures, videos, performances or photographs. This great continent of America is the subject of so much attention that it seems to us already well known. Yet it still contains unexplored treasures at the crossroads of cultures that nourish both its diversity and its contemporaneity.The gallery is also firmly committed to the defense and promotion of women artists who represent more than 40% of the artists’ panel. We offer artists two atypical galleries, a genre cellar and a multifunctional courtyard - cooperating with AVU, UMPRUM and FAMU, whose students regularly exhibit here. We dare to bring promising names from other schools, including foreign ones.
