About An Jansen
As funding adviser and grant coordinator, I support the city of Leuven in acquiring funding for its ambitious and innovative projects. Before taking up this position, I headed the International Funds team at the KU Leuven, assisting academics in obtaining acquiring international funding for research and innovation, and following up on EU research and innovation policy. Also at KU Leuven, I co-founded and coordinated the Young Researchers’ Careers (YouReCa) programme supporting the professional and personal development of junior researchers. I studied bio-engineering at the KU Leuven and the University of Granada (Spain). I then moved the US were I conducted research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Whitehead Institute. I continued my research at the KU Leuven where I received my PhD in bioscience engineering in 2010, after which I briefly worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the KU Leuven and the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology. My research encompassed various projects in microbiology, genetics and molecular biology.
