Curricular Internship in Public Health.Sample collection.Chemical analysis of water.Microbiological analysis of water.

The internship consisted in analysis of body fluids, to help diagnose and treat patients.Technical Skills:∙ Specimen collection, handling and general quality control procedures for blood, urine, faeces and other tissue and body fluids.∙ Haematology (general aspects and investigation of anaemias, genetic and acquired diseases affecting the blood system, such as haemoglobinopathies and thalassaemias, blood cells cytochemistry and techniques, haematological malignancies, including leukaemias), oncology. ∙ Immunology/immunodeficiencies (testing for immunological-related diseases, such as infectious diseases, tumour markers and allergies)∙ Transfusional medicine (testing blood groups and compatibility of donor and recipient blood, and preparing blood transfusions and plasma fractions for administration to patients).∙ Diagnosis and Monitoring of haemostatic and thrombotic conditions (including laboratory control of anticoagulant therapy).∙ Methods to identify microbial pathogens, virus and parasites. Concentration technique, culture, fixation, staining, classification, morphology, life-cycle, pathogenicity, diagnosis and prophylaxis of 3 following classes of parasites: protozoa, nematodes, trematodes, cestodes, trypanosome, helminthes.∙ Virology (identification and screening of viral infections)∙ Biochemistry (to diagnose disease and test organ function)
