Passionate about the science behind mitochondrial dysfunction in diseases bearing a large social burden, such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. Curious about cutting-edge techniques such as super-resolution imaging to uncover the complex interplay between mitochondria, metabolism and disease. I have completed a Master of Interdisciplinary Sciences at ETH Zurich with a focus on cell biology in the field of molecular health sciences, having conducted research for my Master Thesis in the laboratory of Professor T. Kleele. For my Bachelor thesis I was honoured to be part of Professor S. Werner's laboratory at ETH, where I was researching the role of mitochondria in skin and breast cancer. Since 2021, I have been a teaching assistant for first-year Biology, Biochemistry, Health Sciences and Medicine Bachelor courses, where I have been able to share my passion and knowledge of Chemistry, Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology.

We developed a macrophage polarisation assay to study the link between mitochondrial structure and macrophage metabolism. To study mitochondrial dynamics we employed state of the art super-resolution cellular imaging: Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM) and Stimulated Emission Depletion microscopy (STED). Upon successful completion of the project I was invited to the bi-annual Institute of Biochemistry (IBC) retreat in June of 2023 and presented my work during the poster session.
