About Ana Paula Pacheco

With 20 years of professional experience lived in very different roles, I can say that I am a person open to new challenges...With a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology and Immunology - UFRJ, I went to practice in a food industry as soon as I graduated, and after a year I assumed the leadership of product quality assurance, participating in the ISO:9000 Certification. Imagine a newly graduated person in the health area, without having seen people management materials or quality tools, with this responsibility! In search of knowledge, I started my first post-graduation at COPPE - UFRJ, in 2002. As manager of a group with technical training, I always encouraged people's professional growth, so that the team could win as a whole. I concluded that managing people is challenging and knowing how to separate the emotional from the rational, an art - today called Emotional Intelligence, but unknown to me in the early 2000s.My second job was in a multinational petrochemical industry, where I had the opportunity to work with health, safety, quality and environment management systems and ISO certifications. Conducting internal audits, audits on suppliers and audits of certifying companies such as DNV motivated me to win the Lead Quality Auditor Certification by BVQI and to take another post, in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence, also by COPPE.In 2012 I went to Vale, a company in which many young people (and Balzacians like me) dream of working. I started in Corporate Security, performing Due Diligence of the risks of contracting suppliers, helped in the standardization of this process in Argentina and Paraguay. I worked as an investigator in the prevention and recovery of financial losses, including working in the Ombudsman. After 6 years I moved to the H&S Management, my current area, where I have participated in strategic works, such as the implementation of technology in the vehicles of security guards for the prevention of accidents and fatalities and the standardization of work safety processes during the internationalization of the board .I learned along this path that people matter more than anything. Having a healthy organizational environment and happy people in what they do is the foundation of any business success.

    - Worked in Due Diligence for risk analysis of contracting suppliers and assisted in the standardization process of Due Diligence International, participating in meetings with Corporate Security in Argentina and Paraguay, in 2012.- Responsible for reviewing and releasing proposals for the initial work to determine and prevent losses, required by Vale's Security managers. - Guided investigations of financial fraud and misconduct, preparing the planning and schedule of action.- Planned and executed strategic projects, with the objective of preventing and recovering losses for Vale, such as the CPF Project, which identified conflicts of interest among employees in the process of hiring companies from close relatives. - In 2015 I was invited to work at Vale's Ombudsman for six months, working as an investigator of complaints received by the company's Complaint Channel, interacting with the Legal, Human Resources, Audit and Business Security, evaluating laws applicable to each investigation, ensuring that best practices were replicated internally.- After working at the Ombudsman, when I returned to Corporate Security, I was responsible for monitoring the process of all investigations carried out by the board, participating in weekly meetings with the Ombudsman to inform the progress of the findings and the final result. - Recorded the investigation and action plan of complaints in the Ombudsman tool. - I emphasize that the great challenge in this work was to monitor and reduce the average time of investigations conducted by the directors' management. In December 2016, approximately 6 months after I joined this process, the average time went from 80 to 60 days, from receiving the complaint to recording the result of the investigation. - Consolidated on a monthly basis the financial results related to the losses and preventions identified in the investigations.
