About Anabel De Vetter

October 1985. I was 11 years old, visiting a trade show with my mother. There was a booth where you could have your picture taken, and they immediately printed the photograph on a calendar. I was amazed. No film to finish, no waiting for days for it to be developed. Just a computer with a camera and a printer. I still have the picture, you can see the enthusiasm in my eyes, through the dots and dashes that the image is made up of. That moment, combined with that time when R2-D2 picked me out of a crowd for a bit of small talk and some funny dancing, made me love technology and science fiction ever after. I ended up studying literature and linguistics and became a strong believer in the power of communication, be it written, spoken or visual.
