Overseeing the Finance operation for two Nobu Hotels in Palo Alto, CA and Malibu, CA

Preparing all the financial statements and monitor the revenue and expenses fluctuations for the hotel, HOA and Center Association entities.Reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.Prepare the cash flow, bank entries and maintain a high level of investment for excess funds.Month end close includes all journal entries, full review of the trial balance and issuing the Profit and Loss statement.Tax preparation for all local and federal taxes, including but not limited to: Sales & use tax, business tax and property tax.Working with the Director of Finance on the preparation of budgets and forecasts.Prepare and observe all operating equipment’s and supply inventories.Weekly and biweekly payroll review, book and reconcile for all entities.Labor management reports to assure the most efficient use of the hotel’s labor.Ensure compliance with all internal controls, also acting as liaison with external, internal and regional auditors.Monthly reporting packet for the hotel’s ownership, explaining the hotel performance with the supporting reports.Manage and supervise the Accounting team on site and outsourced (based in India).

Prepare the monthly profit and loss statement.Monthly owner reportsParticipate in the balance sheet reconciliations.Participating in the stock take and booking of food, beverage.Payroll book keeping and reconciliations.Audit and prepare the health & welfare bills for the unions.Auditing the cash and cash transactions for all hotels’ cashiers.

Managing and supervise the day to day acctivies in the accounting department.Prepare all financial statements, month end closing, accruals and journal entries, and maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.Coordinate, observe and prepare all operating equipment and supply inventoriesPrepare daily cash position report and maintain the highest level of investment of excess funds, in addition to the daily bank booking.File and pay all local tax returns and other related reporting.Payroll booking.Monthly financial statments reported to the onwersship.

Establishing the accounting office’s structure during the pre-opening phase with the Area Director of Finance and the Assistant Director of Finance.Participate in the mass hiring to choose the right candidates for the accounting office.Design and test the interfaces of all accounting operating systems software.Preparing the operating expenses for the opening budget for all departments.Closing the books at month end with the Assistant Director of Finance.Balance sheet assets reconciliation.

Daily Cash report and bank booking, and all bank accounts reconciliation.Closing the books at month end with the Assistant Director of Finance.Travel agents commission audit and payments.Supervise the Accounts Payable with the day to day operation.Participating in the yearly budget preparations.

Managing the purchasing department, of 3 stores keepers and 1 receiving clerkMonitor 3 storerooms transactions for food, beverage and operating equipment’s.Coordinating all the hotel purchases for food, beverage, general supplies, yearly operating equipment, engineering & utilities supplies and all capital related requests.Provide studies for price comparisons vs quality.Establishing a loyalty program with the hotel’s vendors.Maintain a periodic inventory for all storerooms.

Monitor financial forecasts by providing explanations and support for significant variances from the business plan.Develop and implement system for measuring accuracy of hotel forecasts on key results and statistics at various intervals.Prepare annual summary packages for the budgets, highlighting strong vs. weak performance and highlighting issues need attention.Develop and implement various analytical reports used by management in evaluating the financial performance. Produce month-end reporting package to be used by senior management.

Prepare the daily revenue report and reconcile all revenue centers interfaces.Prepare the daily management package for: rebates and revenue adjustment, cash paid out, daily house charges.Reconcile all the third party charges

Establishing the store rooms during the pre-opening phase for food, beverage and operating equipment’s.Restaurants’ menu costing and suggested selling pricesFood and Beverage flash report.Stock takes for all storerooms, food, beverage and operating equipments.Provide analysis reports about fast and slow moving items, highlight the area with high spending and look for savings ideas.
