In my last spell of Water and Sanitation Programme (WSP), world Bank as Consultant, my role was to roll-out various technologies in sanitation sector in Urban Local Bodies in India and help support them in implementation of the same for enabling them to deliver efficient services to the citizens.

In this position my responsibilities involve:i. Providing technical support and guidance to various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) on Sewerage, MSWM and Sanitation issues. ii. Technical examination and appraisal of DPRs. iii. Provide assistance in framing polices on sanitation.iv. Co-ordinate with national/international agencies for seeking financial and technical co-operation, v. Impart training for capacity building of ULB’s executive officers and engineers. vi. Bridging gap between ULBs and service providers operational in sanitation sector and suggest them solutions. vii. Pilot technology interventions on non-conventional technology options.viii. Conceptualization of environmental conservation projects.ix. Advocacy and promoting best practices in environment and sanitation sector for creation of urban infrastructure in delivering efficient services.x. Service level Benchmarking.Here my achievements are as follows:i. Prepared River Narmada Conservation Plan.ii. Organized a workshop for available alternative technologies for municipal waste management and safe disposal.iii. Prepared a Sanitation Vision Document with WSP World Bank for Madhya Pradesh.iv. Addressing Urban Environmental Problems through cost effective sustainable robust technologies. v. Framed Sewerage and MSW policy for the State. vi. Prepared City Sanitation Plans of 39 Cities on Pilot Basis.vii. Prepared City Sanitation Ranking Document fostering competition among them, to follow best practices thereby enable them to become clean, livable and resilient.viii. Brought Foreign (KFW). funding ix. Involved in clustering cities and developing proposals for waste management through a regional landfill site approach in PPP mode.

In AECOM, I was responsible for business development in India and guide co-ordinate with fellow team members. In this short tenure I' worked for 4 assignments on sustainability and environment besides active involvement in producing white paper, for world Business Council for Sustainable development (WBCSD), on tertiary use of reclaimed water in 4 cities of Gujarat. It was a nice experience working in AECOM Asia.For developing special economic zone (SEZ) at Chennai for ACENDAS, during planning process worked on sustainability and environmental aspects of proposed developmental activity, done interactions with the multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, architects, ecologists and financial experts and also with the client. Given presentations to the client, incorporated comments given by the clients and suggested mitigative measures to the planning team to match with the client's requirements. As an out come, prepared a comprehensive sustainability report on the said project duly incorporating all environmental attributes.

Developmental planning, monitoring and environmental Management are the main postulates in its charter. Projects relating to infrastructure & Urban Planning, Water Bodies and water resources conservation & augmentation, Sewerage & water supply, Solid waste Mgmt., EIA Studies, techno-economic feasibility studies etc. are the main projects in which Development Pro is mainly involved in nationwide.

I was included in the team as Resource Consultant (Environment) for the preparation of a comprehensive environmental development Plan for Bhopal city. This was a PMO assignment. As an environmental resource consultant it was my all responsibility to arrange data collection, its validation and analysis, identify gaps and fill-up data gaps by primary data generation, identification of problems, suggest problem mitigation, assist in planning and prepare block cost estimates besides co-ordination with client and other agencies. For this assignment Environmental Planning and Co-ordination Organisation (EPCO) Bhopal was the nodal agency, its a prime advisory bidy of GoMP for Environment related matters, the assignment was successfully completed within the stipulated time and was submitted to EPCO.

I Started my Career from EPCO, it is not merely an organisation for me; it is a complete institution where I learnt all skills of interdisciplinary co-ordination, approach, planning and decision making. It gave me good exposure at national and international platforms to polish my skills. EPCO gave me vision to decide my Goals.In EPCO I worked almost about 17 years or so, in this duration I've done various assignments and looked after various projects of water bodies conservation, environmental improvement schemes, Housing and infrastructure projects, zoning of atlas for siting of industries, project feasibility and Impact assessment studies, structural designs of various housing and commercial projects and participated in various training and environmental awareness programs. I enjoyed while working in EPCO. I learnt various good lessons to how to approach to a problem and its mitigation from environment point of view, this all could become possible by learning through argument and interaction with a multidisciplinary team of subject experts, brain storming sessions and symposiums from years together. All my knowledge that I gained, all my skills that I developed and for giving me proper vision and pro-environment ideology; I do not have words to express my heart felt gratitude to EPCO and my colleagues there. Hats off, for developing me as environment manager.
