I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the HOME Research Centre at the School of Architecture & Built Environment. My background qualification is in Architecture, and my research interests encompass building design innovation, health-promoting design, biophilic design, and healing environments. In my PhD thesis, I developed a framework elucidating the nature of innovation ecosystems in hospital building design. My research highlighted the main components of the innovation ecosystem and the most influential and interrelated contextual factors, as well as representing and mapping generative interactions that support innovation processes. As an EDAC-certified researcher, I study the impacts of healthcare building design on occupants’ health and wellbeing to create facilities that promote healthier environments for patients and staff. I am passionate about exploring how the design of everyday spaces can contribute to human health, wellbeing, care, and cure. While my primary focus is on healthcare buildings, I also research housing and workplaces to better understand the relationship between the built environment and health outcomes. Using systematic thinking and interdisciplinary research skills developed during my PhD study, I have investigated housing research in the Australian context as a member of the HOME Research Centre. I have collaborated on research projects aiming to inform the design of social and affordable housing, family-friendly apartments, and health-promoting built environments that positively impact vulnerable communities.

Working at HBL helped me develop both quantitative and qualitative research skills. As such I have experience in measuring IEQ parameters from thermal through visual to acoustic comfort using a variety of equipment. I also have considerable experience in designing and administering qualitative questionnaires and their subsequent analysis. -
ArchitectPart Mehraz Consulting Engineers Co. Sep 2014 - May 2018Mashhad, Khorasan, IranI have nearly four years of experience within a prominent architectural firm in Mashhad, Iran. During this time, I was involved in the architectural design of four main projects and several mid-rise residential projects. In the design of Azadi Bus Station and Parking, we considered cultural, social, and environmental requirements, aiming to design an ecologically sustainable building. Our novel and radical design solution was in accordance with climatic suitability and occupant comfort (both physical and psychological health). Another example is the design of 92-Unit Aramesh Residential Apartment, where we aimed for social and environmental sustainability in relation to design for diversity and family-friendly apartment design. We used active and passive service systems for energy and thermal comfort.1. 92-Unit Aramesh Residential ApartmentConsulted with stakeholders; Co-produced Stage 0-1 report; Developed designs, construction documentation, and detailing; Assisted in documenting the embodied carbon implications of the design decisions (materials, components, and environmental systems); Presented the design to the stakeholders.2. Azadi Bus Station and Parking Participated in meetings, Analysed space requirements; Co-produced Stage 0-1 report; Developed designs, construction documentation, and detailing; Prepared 3D modelling and Arch visualisation.3.
