From the time I was a young girl I have always been the smart, analytical one in the group and was even nicknamed "teachers pet" by my friends and "The Professor" by my father. Growing up I enjoyed doing the extra work to know more especially in math and statistics, I craved more knowledge. I was a book smart girl with a whole big life ahead of me. I ended up with a degree in Entrepreneurship with a love for business consulting. One of my favorite courses involved real world consulting for a local small business. When I left school I continued my passion for business by helping with a small business venture and then to help start and maintain another business. I have been asked countless times to help in several areas within friends businesses which fed my passion. Fast forward to my current position. I have had so many opportunities for growth with Penn Gaming at Cactus Petes Casino in Nevada. Within my current role as an Accounting Coordinator I have been able to step up and complete the 10Q at property level in the absence of a Finance Director, I have assisted our audit team with maintaining and fixing Excel Macros, utilizing Showcase for our SQL queries and even tapped into Tableau. In my role, I have to figure out the problems and fix mistakes so I have become the go to for all questions relating to our audits and inquiries into the financials. In all of this I have required little to no training to learn what I needed and instead tapped into my resources for figuring it out as I have always been able to do. Upon starting the Accounting Coordinator position my mission was easily seen, I needed to find inefficiencies within the position and dial them in so the SOX verification and audits would be easier and quicker. My boss said what used to take him 2 days to do he could now do in a couple of hours! That was one of my initial goals completed.For my next adventure and continued growth within finance I am eager to find a position with growth opportunities preferably working remotely. My vision for the future would be more in line with the analytical roles within finance but I am open to accounting positions where I would have opportunity to grow and develop further.
