Head Of Good Problems
CurrentScience Practice is a design and research studio in London that builds teams to work on ambitious science-focused projects and ventures. I lead the Good Problems Team at Science Practice. We work with science and innovation funders to scope pressing problems and design impactful and responsible programmes to address them. My role involves managing and strategically developing the team, as well as managing projects and leading research. Projects include:• Identifying and prioritising public engagement opportunities with the Wellcome Trust• Researching and designing over 18 innovation funding calls on emergency Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Gender-based Violence (GBV) for the Humanitarian Innovation Fund• Scoping international development challenges for Egypt and Indonesia in collaboration with 100% Open for the Newton Fund• Identifying commercial opportunities for drones in urban contexts as part of the Flying High Challenge ran by Nesta• Researching and designing up to 10 tech challenge prizes in a multi-partner project coordinated by Nesta for the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Framework• Researching a number of challenges for the Longitude Prize 2014 project – a £10 million prize launched by Nesta.
