Responsible for overall development, engineering and corporate IT operations across Infomedia18. Was responsible for design, development, test and deployment efforts for products like Burrp, Yellowpages and Askme. New Media group of Infomedia18 has now merged with Network18.Led the rollout of corporate emails and messaging solution unifying all Infomedia18 office locations. Architected and was responsible for the rollout of telephony solutions for Askme.

In 2007, burrp! was listed in the top 30 non-US web startups by Business 2.0/CNN - http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/biz2/0707/gallery.web_world.biz2/13.htmlburrp! got acquired by Infomedia18 (now Network18) in April 2009. Responsible for product strategy, product roadmap and engineering.Co-conceptualized, architected and participated in writing code for burrp! Local, know! and burrp! TV .Used technologies like Spring, Hibernate and Struts for the development of a fast, responsive, scalable and a well-architected product.Ensured delivery of products on time, while still following good development practices like codereviews, nightly builds, automated testing etc.

Worked with Asia’s leading carriers like China Mobile, Chungwa Telecom etc. for the successful deployment of the SCREEN3 product.Led a team of 12 developers for customization of the SCREEN3 product as per customerrequirements.

Led the design and development of the reporting feature for the SCREEN3 server using Java, BEA Weblogic, PostgreSQL and Oracle DB. This reporting module was used to gather various metrics like sales, traffic etc from over 200 million data records generated daily.Participated in the customization of the core SCREEN3 product using Java, BEA Weblogic 8.1, SOAP, XSL, WAP Gateway, Push Proxy Gateway, for launch with the largest wireless carrier in US - Cingular. The SCREEN3 server offers both high availability and high scalability, serving about 10 million hits per day.Designed billing integration endpoints using SOAP and XML/HTTP with Cingular’s third party billing vendor - QPass.

Designed and developed the Change My Plan application that allowed AT&T Wireless customers to change their billing plan. The application communicated with the backend customer billing system via SOAP/HTTP to fetch the customer’s plan details. Two-way SSL authentication was used to secure the data transmission. This application used Velocity templates for presentation and was deployed on a cluster of Weblogic 7.0 application servers running on Solaris.Led the development of a HTTPS based server-side application that interfaced through Web-Services, with a third party billing service provider. Used FreeBSD, JDK 1.3, Apache Axis, Tomcat and client SSL certificates.Wrote a standalone Java application to process incoming XML newsfeed from Reuters and send out corresponding MMS alerts to subscribers, adapting the content to their device specifications.

Mobile Processing Server (MPS)Participated in the design and development of the company’s flagship product, Mobile Processing Server (MPS), using Java 1.3.1, SOAP 1.0, Embedded Tomcat, WML, XHTML, XML, XSL, XPath, XF (Brience proprietary), JMS and SSL.Led the design and development of content source plug-ins to fetch data from disparate sources like Databases (JDBC), LDAP servers (JNDI), Tibco (JMS), XML repositories (SAX/DOM) and HTML websites. The sourced content was aggregated, transformed and presented to the user after automatically detecting their mobile device.Co-architected the IDE framework for the MPS server. The IDE was developed using custom renderers and models for various Swing components like JTree, JTable etc. It also provided out of box support for localization and internationalization.Secure Collaboration Gateway (SCG)Participated in the development of web-based administration interface for the SCG server (Reverse-Proxy) using Jakarta Struts, Struts Layout, Tiles and JSP.Designed and developed all the built-in HTTP header filters that were used to deny nonconforming HTTP requests.Primarily responsible for performing vulnerability and penetration tests against the SCG server. Wrote various test cases to test the server for buffer overflow, improper unicode decoding andsession hijacking.

Developed a 3-tier discussion thread server using Java 1.1.8, JDBC/ODBC, Servlets and JSP.Worked on a project to develop an Applet game using Java 1.1. The top 10 scores of the day were stored in an Oracle database using JDBC. The applet was multi-threaded and used double-buffering to reduce flicker.Developed a reusable web based application framework using Java (packaged as a COM component), ASP and Oracle database. This framework was reused for an insurance company as well as a travel consultancy.Made a couple of on-site trips to the US as a part of requirement gathering process and finally to deploy the solution.

Was hired as a sale executive and was given the responsibility to sell Multitech branded modems, VSNL Internet connections and Netscape Navigator browser to industrial and commercial clients. Achieved or beat all weekly and monthly targets.Responsible for providing after sales support for modem installations as well as training customers on internet usage.Promoted to the position of a Technical Manager after I taught myself to write HTML. Built webpages, created images and artwork using Photoshop, uploaded webpages via FTP for hosting.Responsible for design and maintenance of customer websites. Used HTML, JavaScript, Applets and various photo editing tools like CorelDraw and Adobe Photoshop. Extensively used JavaScript to maintain interactivity on the websites. Customers included some of the biggest industrial houses in India - Vadilal Industries, Cadila Healthcare, Sintex Industries, Dishman Pharmaceuticals etc.Evaluated various web-servers, mail servers, proxy servers and gateways and published recommendations for clients.

This was my first entrepreneurial venture. Wrote an Advocate client management software in Foxpro 2.0 in 4 months flat without any prior knowledge of programming or know-how of FoxPro. Features included client meeting scheduling, high court hearing calendar, customer accounts, contact management, etc.Being a small venture, I also used to manage sales and post-sales support. At one point of time we had a customer base over 40 High court advocates.Apart from writing software I also used to assemble new computers and repair dot matrix printers.
