Dissertation topic – “Prediction of Process-Induced Microstructural Changes and Residual Stresses in Orthogonal Hard Machining”.- Developed FEM & analytical software to simulate hard-turned component surface integrity. - Worked closely with Oak Ridge National Laboratories to experimentally validate results.- Research formed a portion of a research program funded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Advanced Technology Program (NIST-ATP). Major participants were Delphi, Torrington and Kennametal.

- Evaluated crash performance of High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) and Dual Phase Steels. Predicted and experimentally validated regimes of maximum efficacy for both steels using explicit dynamic finite element methods.- Nominated for the GM scholarship awarded to outstanding student interns.
