Developing and implementing algorithms for a finite element based Navier-Stokes solver (AcuSolve) in C, Fortran for transonic and supersonic flow applications.

Studied large-eddy simulation (LES) of high-speed, turbulent, chemically reacting flows using US3D flow solver. Successfully simulated scramjet related flow and obtained quantitative agreement with experimental data.Implemented digital filter based inflow turbulence generation method, characteristics-based subsonic boundary conditions and necessary post-processing modules for accurate numerical simulations of high-speed reacting flows. Assisted in development of improved numerical fluxes in higher-order finite volume calculations involving multiple species in non-premixed reacting flows.Generated grids to match experimental geometry, performed simulations on massively parallel platforms.

Studied large-eddy simulation (LES) of exhaust gas oxygen sensor using CharLES flow solver. Performed simulations on parallel platforms to study the response time behavior of the sensor.Worked on a project for business unit partner with responsibility of meeting timely goals.Implemented conserved scalar framework, modified boundary conditions, scripted post-processing tools to obtain required simulation data. Analyzed data and reported insights about sensor-sensititvity.

Studied noise characteristics of ideally expanded supersonic jet impingement using Schlieren imaging technique and acquired acoustic signals. Analyzed data to understand the acoustic phenomena associated with impingement of high speed jets.

Proposed novel design ideas for pulsejet engines, engineered and implemented changes to an existing engine design. Recorded improvements in fuel efficiency and observed larger throttling range.
