Anant Merathia is a practicing commercial litigation and disputes resolution lawyer with over 20 years’ experience in India and Singapore. Anant started off his career with practice in civil and commercial laws in Chennai, India in 2004 focusing on shareholder disputes & commercial documentation followed by pursuing an LLM at NUS, Singapore. After completing his LLM, he worked with Singapore law firms as a Registered Foreign Lawyer, in the corporate and arbitration practice groups. Anant moved back to India in 2009 and over the years has advised clients on corporate and commercial advisory and litigations, shareholder issues, cross border disputes and insolvency and restructuring of Indian companies. He has active interest in commercial arbitration and mediation and has represented clients in both. His core areas of interest remain corporate advisory, governance, shareholder and board issues; corporate insolvency and restructuring; advising SME Companies. He has advised and represented Promoters, Financial Institutions, Insolvency Professionals, Resolution Applicants and other stakeholders in IBC matters across NCLTs and NCLAT in Chennai and Delhi.Anant has also been instrumental in assisting many Indian companies setup base in Singapore and is presently advising select HNWI clients in setting up family office structures in Singapore thru his ASEAN PLUS group network. He is finalizing his 1st book on the Corporate Insolvency Laws of India with an objective to make it a reference point for industry and not just legal fraternity.Anant has been awarded the prestigious “Rising Star” Award in March 2016 by Legal Era Magazine at Mumbai. In 2022 he was listed amidst India’ Top Disputes Lawyers by Asian Legal Business.
