Community Outreach Specialist
CurrentDedicated to serving at-risk, in-need populations in the spirit and mission of PlantPure Communities of building stronger, healthier, and more sustainable communities. This is being accomplished through a wide range of research, policy, and program activities as well as working with local nonprofits, businesses, governments, hospitals and other health-related organizations, faith-based groups, and other community organizations.PPC offers programs, resources, tools, and knowledge to empower community leaders, activists, and advocates, in order to help educate people about evidence-based nutrition that shows optimal health may be achieved through a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) diet. Locally, Community Outreach Specialist has accomplished the following:– Connected more than 2,500 community members with critical services and provided referrals– Developed and led community-wide campaigns to inform at-risk community members of health and nutrition education services and plant-based eating support programs– Coordinated health outreach awareness initiatives, participating in and speaking at more than 80 community events– Planned and implemented annual Earth Month event to provide on-site health education services and counseling– Initiated relationships with community service providers, educators, church leaders, and state and federal organizations– Manage a volunteer team of more than 20 community members to provide awareness– Prepare and maintain necessary documentation of referrals, provisions and outcomes
