As a MME at International Paper I was responsible to the achievement of the cost reduction goal of 3% year over year. As a graduated chemical engineer, I became a Production and process engineer in Paper and Finishing. In that position I worked at the Operational Support Department that was an area which would technically assist the mill, as conduce the development processes and interface with other departments such as supply chain, finance, IT and logistics.I was mainly responsible for raw materials development, daily process analysis, technical process improvements, process and production information systems and technical assistance to process laboratory activities.Main achievements in this position:o Cost reduction through the implementation of: Boil out chemicals for machine cleaning; Internal strartch (0.26 MM US$), antifoam and OBA (0.18 MM US$) substitution; startch cleaning chemical implementation (0.1 MM US$);o Process improvements: Chemical dosage position modification, retention and drainage (R&D) variability reduction (green belt project – 0.3 MM US$);o Information system: Mill cost project implementation.
