Postdoc
I am currently working at the User Coordination office of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB).My main activities include management of user access to the large scale facilities (BESSY II, synchrotron facilty, and BER II, neutron facility) and laboratories of HZB, user support, as well as organization of workshops and user meetings. Aditionally, we promote outreach activities to the general public and to the scientific community.
Postdoc
Involved in project ENERGIZE at BESSY II, the synchrotron user facility part of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB).In this project, a new beamline with an end-station especially suited for materials science in the field of energy research will be built and operated. The new beamline, optimized for the VUV (vacuum ultraviolet) spectral range, will offer ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) capabilities. It will prove particularly interesting for researchers in the field of materials science for renewable energy or energy efficient optoelectronic semiconductor devices.Research: Formation of interlayers in blends for Organic Photovoltaics; Fullerene degradation.
Projektassistent Forskning (Research Project Assistant)
Main duties: first trials in the fabrication of printed organic electronics, including literature review and design of relevant experiments.
Phd Student
Morphology – Performance relationships in solar cells based on conjugated polymers and nanoparticlesIn my PhD project the main goal is the fabrication of a new type of solar cell, based on solution processable polymers, molecules and nano-sized particles. By controlling the structural, optical and electronic properties of the thin spin-coated films, higher solar cell efficiencies and a better understanding of the photophysical processes inherent to photovoltaic phenomena can be achieved. Such solar cells could be integrated with a large variety of substrates, such as plastic film, textile, paper and building material, broadening the range of photovoltaic applications.Specialties: Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM); Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS); Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM); Fluorescence Spectroscopy; Near-Edge X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure Spectroscopy (NEXAFS); High Resolution X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (HR-XPS); Contact angle measurements; Electrical characterization of solar devices.
Teacher And Lab Supervisor
Laboratory supervision in Wave Physics (1st year engineering and physics students), inThermodynamics (2nd year engineering and physics students), and in Nature and SustainableDevelopment (Teacher Education Program); Teacher of calculation sessions in Wave Physics (1styear engineering and physics students) and Thermodynamics (2nd year engineering and physicsstudents); Supervision of laboratory projects in Functional Materials (4th year engineering andphysics students); Outreach initiatives, for science education.
Library Assistant
Information management support (Libertas Management Program, Millennium ManagementProgram, Chemical Abstracts, Beilstein, etc.); Reception and support to library users.
