Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (Dvop) Specialist
CurrentAssigned as one of the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist for the State of Florida Department of Commerce, Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) program, to provide outreach and facilitate placements to meet the employment needs of eligible veterans and eligible spouses entitled to benefits, in accordance with priorities as determined by the Federal Department of Labor.This is accomplished by conducting counseling, career planning, comprehensive and specialized assessments of skill levels, to determine the service needs of qualified participants. Developing Individual Employment Plans (IEP) with clients to identify their employment goals, set appropriate achievement objectives, and identify appropriate combination of services that assists the client to achieve their employment goals.I provide short-term pre-vocational services that may include development of learning skills, communication skills, interviewing skills, punctuality, personal maintenance skills, and professional conduct to prepare individuals for unsubsidized employment or training. Also coordinate with the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) counselors to provide case management assistance to VR&E (Chapter 31) special disabled Veterans and other Veterans with significant barriers to employment (SBEs).
